HISTORY

Founded in 1901 by social activist Mary Harriman, The Junior League has evolved into one of the oldest, largest, and most effective women’s volunteer organizations in the world, encompassing more than 155,000 women in 293 Leagues in four countries.

In 1985, the Champlain Valley Junior Service League (CVJSL) was founded by eight women. The CVSJL continued to grow and make an impact on the community throughout the years and in 2003 began the affiliation process. In 2005 (the 20th anniversary) the CVJSL became affiliated with the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) and officially became the Junior League of Champlain Valley.
